"And the Categories Are..."

Katie Speer Philanthropist of the Year

This award is intended to recognize an individual or group who has made a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities. Employees of institutions that do philanthropic work are not eligible for this award for work performed in the course of their regular job duties. 

Business Philanthropist of the Year

The Business Philanthropist of the Year award is intended to recognize a business that has had a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities. 

Enduring Service Award

​The Enduring Service award is intended to recognize an individual or group who has made an extraordinary long-term impact on the Estes Valley community through philanthropic activities. Employees of institutions that do philanthropic work are not eligible for this award for work performed in the course of their regular job duties.

Youth Philanthropist of the Year

​The Youth Philanthropist of the Year award is intended to recognize an individual or group (18 years old or younger) who has made a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities. 

New in 2022 - Shavlik Nonprofit of the Year

​The Shavlik Nonprofit of the Year award is intended to recognize a nonprofit organization that is in service to the Estes Valley that has demonstrated exceptional dedication to its mission and those whom they serve. ​

Suggestions for a strong nomination:
  • Answer each question separately and completely
  • Allow yourself enough time to gather information
  • Focus on the Estes Valley only
  • Be specific; include data (number of people impacted, outcomes, etc.)
  • List examples of accomplishments
  • Impact matters. Describe how this person has made a difference in the Estes Valley
  • Show excitement and enthusiasm for your nominee
  • Focus on ongoing activities and overall efforts
  • Research what your nominee is doing with other groups, describe how their efforts have encouraged others, share some inspirational stories
  • Be descriptive: the selection committee may not know your nominee
